Well, that was more exciting than I expected. I thoroughly enjoyed Kennedy's first book, which was largely set in an academic and office environment; it had plenty of tension and suspense, but not necessarily action. So when I read this one was set in a training program, I assumed it would be similar. The first half is, then things really take off. As in, literally, take off in spaceships. With chases, weapons, and daring feats of physical maneuvers. Of course, that doesn't make the characters any less smart or their quandaries any less scientific. Plus witty dialogue and interesting character development. What Goes Up is lots of fun.
