This book is so incredibly amazing. Lakshmi is a 13 year old girl who comes from a very poor family in Nepal. Her stepfather said it was time for her to go into the city and earn some money for the family. That was when her father sold her to a lady named Mumtaz where she was sold into prostitution. That is until she has paid off all her debt. Mumtaz puts her in situations and makes her do things that she could have never imagined. No one could ever imagine a little innocent 13 year old girl being forced into such things that she was put into. This book is something that could get you feeling so many thing. During my reading I started crying a couple times because it really deals with mature subjects. So no one under the age of 14 should read this book cause they may be offended or they may feel like it is a lot to handle. A very long time ago children at around this age do end up being sold into prostitution and get beat and go through stuff like this. So to read this book it really was a big eye opener for me because I got too read about a different point of view of a situation that we rarely get information about. Even though this book is fiction I still feel like a lot of the scenarios and issues were very realistic like when they talked about poverty. If you are looking for a read that will really make you think and open your eyes this one would be a very good choice.
