Alex Cross's Trial, by James Patterson worth spending the time to read! A departure from the famous Hero character Alex Cross the PhD, detective who solves crimes and murder mysteries, this particular story surrounds Alex Cross's great grandfather as a citizen living in small town America under Jim Crow, facing multiple lynchings. The grandfather also named Alex Cross is confronting hatred, betrayal and violent attacks on family members. This is a tragic departure from a real mystery and loses the reader as they try to keep up with all the violence and mayhem that is unrelenting and at time smothering. The point of racial hatred of peaceful Black People is abundantly clear which again steers the reader away from any arching story trying to be told. Clearly missing the mark the gripping hostilities overwhelm the mystery or trail, or order that would have made this story worth the effort. But hey its James Patterson and his character theme in the title so whoops, gotcha! Universally panned by the group as too offensive, so we may be cozy oriented, or have expectations of American happy endings, and I admit I wanted to like it. Good Luck to all who prevail in suffering through it! Consider a bad book. Can't recommend this one! Universally disliked by entire Best Sellers Book Club Members!
