It is fascinating to read the myriad of comments regarding this DVD. I am on the side of the group who think it was banal, not funny at all and after slogging through the entire first episode, had decided that I would not watch any more episodes at about the half-way mark. I certainly do agree that no one does humo(u)r as well as the English, but how this was described as being a comedy is beyond me. I am happy that some people saw the humor and were able to get good laughs from it. That was not me. I shall not be watching any more episodes. I never felt any affinity with the two main characters and none of the other actors peaked my interest at any level except to think, "Well, that was dumb!" Okay, so the bar tender who was a comrade of the after-hours gambling group was good, IMHO. His charm was well-played and his lines were well delivered. He was literally the only actor in the episode who came alive and made his part be believable. The rest seemed to be phoning it in.
