Spies! Childhood-friends-to-lovers! There's so much good stuff going on in this book. The #1 guarantee that I will enjoy a romance novel (aside from it being funny, which this one is) is a sense that the hero and heroine are on completely equal footing and are a perfectly matched pair. This can sometimes be tricky, particularly in historicals where, by nature of the times, the hero has a lot more freedom and experience than the heroine. And yet Boyle manages it perfectly here -- Roselie and Brody are constantly attempting to outwit one another, and it's refreshing to read a Regency romance in which both hero and heroine, despite being aristocrats, have a (clandestine) career, of sorts. This was utterly charming and fun.

Fans of Willig's PINK CARNATION series will love SIX IMPOSSIBLE THINGS, because the tone is so similar -- a little romp-y, a little dangerous, and only a little romance (sex, yes, but the development of a romance? Not really). I love Roselie as a spy, because she is full of confidence and wit... and I am annoyed with her as the lead female in this romance, as none of the skill she has as a spy seems to carry over into her personal life. Brody I am less split on -- he just seems a terrible spy and a dunderhead when it comes to romance.
