For nearly two hundred years, women in Ashley Tolliver's family have practiced the art of midwifery in their mountain community. I felt like the story was trying too hard, very predictable and with religious undertones I wasn't expecting.

Love story of a mountain midwife and a city boy with lots of twist and turns that destroy who they think they are. Quick enjoyable read

My first read by this author. Not a bad story, engaging, easy to read, not too deep and easy to follow the story line. Just a night book. Two stories that intersect. McDermott who is trying to locate a woman who claims to be his mother; and a young woman who has given birth at the midwife's home and then been stolen away. McDermott and the midwife are thrown into a chase to locate McDermott's mother and the young woman.
