A network gets the chance to document a routine day in the life of the West Wing and the Old Executive Building, when it turns out to be anything but routine for not one but five terrorist attacks happen on US soil. Making things more interesting are the President, a woman, who that day is making a major flip-flop on the abortion issue; the press secretary who is sleeping with the First Gentleman; and a defense secretary who is rushing to get home from the Middle East when she discovers mid-flight that she is unexpectedly pregnant. Complicating things further is one of the First Daughters, who can't help keeping her opinions about her mother to herself on Facebook. All of these add up to a fast paced book where the unexpected becomes reality and heartbreak happens in the worst places - and how a President has to make important decisions under the tightest pressures.

Fast-paced and interesting look at the White House in a time of crisis, both personally for our main characters and as a nation. Old hurts and rivalries, friendships and relationships, and professional desires rise to the top on the day the White House has agreed to let a film crew follow key staffers, including the president (who just happens to be female) -- the same day a series of coordinated attacks on the US are launched. Much less about politics than about the people involved.
