Wow! When I grabbed the book, I didn't expect too much. In general I don't like short stories; they are too short for me. LOL I like to live through the lives of characters for much longer than 20 pages. But this one is incredible collection of short stories combined together by a theme of choices that people make during their most challenging years – teenage and retiring. In some stories, both periods are combined together and create a unique tapestry of a human life. I couldn’t stop reading and each story left something behind in my thoughts and my memory. The beginning was slow and kind of puzzling for me, but then the book goes into a full swing and culminates with the title story. I keep returning back in my thoughts to O. Henry’s The Roads We Take when I think about every story in this book. We shape our destiny ourselves and nobody is there to blame for our choices in life.
