Artist Antonio de Thomasis' first book was praised for its evocative and nostalgic look at a Montreal before the age of television. In print, commentators recalled a time when children were free to play in back alleys, hang out in corner stores, build soap boxes, and play street hockey with road apples. On television, Antonio's contagious joy was shared by hosts remembering their own childhoods. Legendary Quebecois comedian Yvon Deschamps writes in his introduction that the paintings brought back memories so strongly that he could smell the old neighborhood. A sure delight for all ages.
