I'm not sure what I think about the title. but I will be able to tell you what I think about the book once I get a chance to read it. The reviews below make me want to read it, however.

I don't get it! The praise all over the book talked about how funny it was supposed to be, but nothing even made me blow air out of my nose. The book was more depressing than funny - a middle-aged guy unsatisfied with his career and…

This was an absolute delight of a read. The author’s craftily-developed characters and unique storyline made for a quick and refreshing read. I would recommend!

I enjoyed the book but kept waiting for something that justified winning a Pulitzer. Certainly well written and funny (not hilarious, imo, as often described), but the travelogue quality felt more like a contrivance than an organic plot.…

I read about 50 pages and couldn't engage with Arthur Less, the protagonist, or the story. It just seemed all over the place. Not rating since I DNF.

I struggled through the first few chapters and just couldn't engage. I seem to recall feeling the same way about Max Tivoli. Guess the author is just not for me!

Arthur Less is about to turn fifty. He is a tall, handsome, gay writer, and he has stumbled into most of the success he achieved in his life. His first novel received positive reviews and sold well, but the praise and popularity of each…

What a delightful book. It made me laugh out loud many times. Less is an endearing character, and the potentially dark premise of the novel is somehow made more poignant by the occasionally comedic delivery of its message. This is not to…

A fun wholesome gay story. I originally listened to this on playaway audio and will probably revisit it in text form for a full appreciation of the prose. Less is a light hearted read—which is not inherently criticism—but along with…

Beautifully written, lyrical, poetic, and most importantly, funny! Very likeable characters and good story development. no wonder it won the Pulitzer!

Lyrical, hilarious, and very, very gay (in the best way). Only docked a half-star because main character sometimes a bit too... spoony.

A fun journey around the world with not-too-celebrated author Arthur Less, avoiding his ex-lover’s wedding. Often I stopped to enjoy the resonance of words with poetry in them. In Morocco, a camel was described with great sensitivity. In…

THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD!!!! I will literally scream that from rooftops and into the endless abyss. I loved Less’s awkwardness and how he was not perfect and made mistakes and did bad but still strived to be kind. A lot of the allure of this…

Arthur Less, approaching his 50th birthday as a self-described "failed" author and "failed" at being gay, embarks on an around-the-world tour to avoid attending the marriage of his former lover. Andrew Scott Greer gives us a novel, the…

Tricky read that meanders all over the place and sometimes just bored me or lost me, but it has moments and sections of true wit and heart and it ultimately won me over. A lucky life indeed.
