The beginning of this book was full of promise and piqued one's interest. However, it soon got to be ponderous. There was a slight interest in where the story was going but I ended up not really caring. Certainly not a thriller.

I was thoroughly disappointed in the ending of this book, because there isn't any closure. It abruptly ends without you finding our if Emma is in time to help Christopher. Nina has held a grudge for decades against this woman for no real…

Yet another psychological thriller about woman, but better written than most. In alternating chapters, two rather stereotyped women provide their thoughts and points of view. Certainly a page turner but somewhat implausible.

This book was very disappointing. It started off in an interesting way and I was excited while reading it. I was sure that all of this tension would lead to a strong climax. I read it all in one sitting but the novel didn't deliver at…

The same gimmick that worked so well in GONE GIRL (explaining the same incident from different perspectives) just feels repetitive in this novel. Lots of drama about something that seems insignificant--maybe that is the point but I just do…

Fiction or not, purposeful harm to innocents doesn't entertain me. Doubt I'll read more from this author.

I found it tedious although it picked up mid-way. Hated the ending. Hated it. About two women and how their lives interconnect b/c one of them is kind of weird and stalks the other.

Loved it-even better than "Alys Always". The author has a great gift for adding tension to mundane prose. I would read her shopping list.

Reads like a short story that the author padded and stretched until she had enough length for a novel. The characters have potential, but none of them are well-developed. The two protagonists/narrators have such similar voices and…

It is a little slow paced, but it does build. I like how the author shows the same storyline from the two different perspectives. Interesting how an incident can be inconsequential to one person, but define another... A good read.

Absolutely brilliant. Nuanced and graceful writing. A perfect ending. But if you're looking for narrative, this will disappoint. It is all about character. Mesmerizing. 5 *****

I am an avid reader - I read most anything - and rarely leave a bad review. But I would not recommend this book to anyone - confusing story line and ending just dropped.

I didn't finish this book. "Her: A Novel" by Harriet Lane was so... utterly boring. I gave up just after I was about half way done (57% according to my Kindle). That's when I realized that nothing had actually happened. It is so slow paced…

Tiresome revenge tale. One character's twisted scheming and manipulation are motivated by a reason without even a scintilla of believability or justification. The book depicts motherhood as dismal unrewarding drudgery in which women lose…

A revenge noir tale of a twisted relationship between two near-neighbours that drags, and drags, and drags, bogged down in slow domesticity. I wish more happened sooner, in this "thriller" that only thrills once, maybe twice. “Gone Girl”,…

The ending was a disappointment but it was an enjoyable read overall.

I really did not like this book. I don't believe I have ever felt so resentful of spending time on a book and I've read Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey. This book is told from 2 points of view and the same situation and dialogue is often…

I loved the prose and the gradually increasing sense of menace and tension in this book.

I thought this was a wonderful psychological portrait of the lives of 2 very different women and the contrasting lives they lead. Without giving anything away I thought the ending was perfect.

Waste of time book. Mean spirited sneaky character spoils the story for me. Dumb ending.

This novel has one of the most evil characters that I have ever encountered. It is her underhanded way of dealing with people that makes her so despicable. The end was a bit disappointing.

I am of two minds on HER: on one hand, it is a taut almost-psychological thriller with one of the most devious characters I have read in a long while and a pretty accurate description of the everyday despair of mothering young children;…
